In the summer transfer window, Manchester United was rumoured to be interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal. However, the French champions of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), were able to beat the Red Devils to the punch and sign the Gabonese forward.
The move came as a shock to many fans who had expected the Premier League giants to make a bid for Aubameyang. The 32-year-old has been a prolific goalscorer throughout his career, scoring over 250 goals in 476 appearances for clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, and Arsenal.
However,Ligue 1 Express despite his impressive track record, Aubameyang struggled to adapt to life in France. He made just eight starts for PSG during the 2019-20 season, failing to score or assist any goals. This led to calls for him to be loaned out, with several teams reportedly interested in signing him on a permanent basis.
Marseille stepped up to the plate and signed Aubameyang on a permanent deal in January 2020. The Gabonese international wasted no time in making an impact for the club, scoring five goals in his first seven games for them.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, and he is now being evaluated by scouts across Europe. Many believe that Aubameyang could become a key player for the team, given his experience and goal-scoring ability.
It remains to be seen how much of an impact Aubameyang will have at Marseille this season. However, one thing is certain - he will certainly be a force to be reckoned with on the pitch.
