RB Leipzig has confirmed the transfer of Xavi Simons from Real Madrid to the German club. The 21-year-old Dutch winger was loaned out to RB Leipzig last season, making 18 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals.
Simons joined Real Madrid from Ajax in 2019 for a fee of €25 million, but struggled to make an impact at the La Liga giants. He made just five starts and only managed to score one goal in his 17 appearances for the club.
The move to RB Leipzig was seen as a fresh start for Simons, who is expected to play a key role in the team's title bid this season. The club has already signed several new signings ahead of the new campaign, including Brazilian defender Fabio Quintana and Argentine striker Emiliano Martinez.
In a statement released by RB Leipzig, the club said: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Xavi Simons from Real Madrid. He brings with him experience and quality to our squad,Football Overview Station and we are confident he will have a successful career at RB Leipzig."
Simons is expected to compete with fellow attacking players like Emil Forsberg and Marcel Sabitzer for a place in the starting line-up. The young winger has been praised for his pace, dribbling ability and vision on the pitch, and is expected to bring a different dimension to the RB Leipzig attack.
Overall, the signing of Xavi Simons is a significant coup for RB Leipzig, and they will be hoping that he can help them challenge for the Bundesliga title this season.
